How to get to St. George Hotel & Residence?
We are located in the very heart of the historic Buda Castle district representing the core of the ancient town – an area guarding some of the most important historical monuments in Hungary - and adjacent to the Fishermen's Bastion and Matthias Church. St. George Residence is easily accessible by both public transport and car. (See Directions for additional info)
Smoking and Non- Smoking facilities/suites?
Please make your request upon arrival. All our suites are spacious, well lit and easy to ventilate. There is a choice of non-smoking or smoking parlors available in both restaurants and our café.
Facilities for the disabled?
Suite nr. 4 is distinguished as it is especially fitted with facilities for the disabled. Impediments have also been removed from our restaurants, café and other parlors within the limits set forth by the Monument Conservation Agency. In addition, our staff is available 24-hours a day to further assist you.
Variety of programs?
Budapest and the Castle district offer many excursion and entertainment opportunities. Our staff is ready to assist you. Maps are available at the reception desk. Programs suited to individual tastes can also be met upon request.
Special diabetic, dietary and allergy care?
We offer a special anti-allergenic bed sheet with a 3-fold protection against dust, acari and fungi by BILLERBECK. All our bedrooms are fitted with bedding, especially designed for those with asthma and other types of allergies. Please inform us about any special dietary or other needs, so that we can jointly find the optimal solutions to any of your dietary or health concerns. We ask that you kindly bring along any treatment plan or suggestions from your own nutritional and medical professional.
Is the St. George a “residence” or “hotel”?
We are proud of the one-time edifice bearing the name “Fortuna” given by the City Council in the year 1785. We have been operating as one of the most attractive and renowned hospitality and entertainment destinations in Buda since 1868. Therefore, we pay homage to our distinguished history by using the designation of “Residence” compared to “Hotel.”
Why was the Fortuna Inn renamed to St George?
The Monument Conservation Agency recommended using St. George instead of Fortuna as the name is already in use by other entities on the very same street.
Business service for travelers?
All our suites and parlors are connected with quality phone lines, internet and computer utilities (both cordless/card system and land connection). In addition to renting such technical equipment as faxes, PCs, laptops and mobile phones, services that include secretarial help, translation, interpreting and courier are also available. Conferences and events?
We have experience in offering events numbering 2-100 persons. Our well-trained team is ready to provide turnkey solutions to make your next event unforgettable. Please make your request at the reception. (Also see Events)
Services for children?
Our residence offers a child-friendly environment with services free of charge up to the age of 12 years of age. Trusted baby-sitting services and children programs are also available upon request.
Reception services?
24-hour reception service is provided which includes organization of sightseeing tours, cultural programs, opera and concert tickets and transfers. We aim to make your stay with us as pleasurable as possible.
History of the building?
The contemporary building of the St. George Hotel & Residence features a complete reconstruction of a Baroque corner house built on medieval foundations. While preserving its original architectural heritage, it meets present–day quality standards with its luxurious refurbishments. The original Fortuna Inn in fact comprised three medieval homes. These features endow our contemporary building with an exquisite and unique atmosphere.
The reconstruction work by the present owner began in 2006 and was completed by the year 2007. (See Historical Background)
Booking and cancelation policies?
Cancelations follow the rules of the general terms of agreement included in our quote. If an individual agreement is in effect, the written terms are accepted.
Capacity of the St. George Hotel & Residence?
Extra beds are available in all 26 double suites. The suites are large (between 47-110 m2) and accommodate as many as 65-70 guests at a time. An additional 50 people can be seated in each of our luxurious restaurants and café, while the smoking room and separate parlors are able to further host 40 guests.
Residence rental?
An ideal home for business travelers, tourists, families and groups for short visits and extended holidays. Individual terms of agreement possible for extended stays. (See Long Stay)
In suites: cooking facilities and food preparing utensils?
In addition to the basic household for four, all kitchens are fully equipped with labor- saving utilities, refrigerators, microwave ovens, cooking surfaces and hot pots.
Shopping and press services?
Orders made by 8:00 p.m. are delivered the following morning. Please see our reception with your shopping list. For any further questions and requests, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail or phone.
Facilities for pets?
Being a pet-friendly residence, pets are kindly welcome for an additional fee. We also offer pet-sitting and walking services for and additional fee.
Swimming and fitness facilities?
Massage, pedicure and manicure are offered on site. We can arrange visits to Budapest's most famous Turkish spas and swimming pools upon request. (See Relax Package)
Dry-cleaning and laundry facilities?
St George partners with a highly professional laundry service to offer dry-cleaning and other laundry care for all types of clothing and textile. We are happy to arrange this service for you.
Indulgence in gastronomic tastes guaranteed?
An internationally acclaimed chef is at your disposal to insure that you are spoiled with a cuisine of superior quality in the luxurious environment of our restaurant and café. We offer a splendid selection of Hungarian and international cuisine.
